Auto Radio

01 Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Auto Radio accesses, what it does not collect, and how third-party services used by the app handle data. We encourage you to read it in full — it is short.

02 Data we collect

Auto Radio collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Your favorite stations — the radio stations you add to your favorites pages (name, stream URL, logo, position). Stored in the app's private database. Never transmitted anywhere.
• App settings — your language preference, display brightness settings, and playback preferences. Stored in the app's private shared preferences. Never transmitted anywhere.
• Custom logos — if you choose a custom logo for a station, the image is saved in the app's private storage on your device. Never uploaded to any server.

None of this data ever leaves your device. It is deleted when you uninstall the app.

03 Data we do NOT collect

Auto Radio does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any contact information
• Your location or IP address
• Your listening history or usage statistics
• Any device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID, etc.)
• Crash reports or analytics events

There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting SDKs, and no advertising SDKs embedded in Auto Radio beyond what is listed in section 4 below.

04 Third-party services

Auto Radio connects to the following external services in order to function:

Radio Browser API (radio-browser.info)
Used to search for radio stations and retrieve stream URLs. When you search for stations or browse by country, your search query and your device's IP address are sent to the Radio Browser servers. Radio Browser is an open-source, community-run project. Their privacy policy is available at radio-browser.info.

Radio stream servers
When you play a station, your device connects directly to the station's streaming server. That server may log your IP address as part of normal server operation. Auto Radio has no control over and no relationship with individual radio station operators.

DuckDuckGo image search (optional feature)
If you use the "Find a logo" feature to search for a station logo, a search query is sent to DuckDuckGo's image search API. DuckDuckGo's privacy policy is available at duckduckgo.com/privacy. This feature is only activated when you explicitly initiate a logo search.

Google AdMob
Auto Radio displays a banner advertisement at the bottom of the main screen, served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your advertising ID and other device information in accordance with Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time in your Android device settings under Privacy → Ads.

05 Android permissions

Auto Radio requests the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET — required to stream radio audio and query the Radio Browser API.
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — used to detect whether an internet connection is available before attempting to play a stream.
• WAKE_LOCK — keeps the CPU active while audio is playing in the background, so playback is not interrupted.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — required to run the audio playback service in the foreground, which enables background playback and lock screen controls.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — displays the media playback notification with play/pause controls.

Auto Radio does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, files, or location.

06 Children's privacy

Auto Radio is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us (see section 8) and we will take appropriate steps.

07 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Auto Radio after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
